Ireland overwhelmingly voted for same-sex marriage. Why does Ireland’s vote count when in the United States votes by state legislatures and the general public (e.g., California, Alabama, Texas) are often overruled by unelected judges? Why is it right in Ireland to vote for something and have it mean something, but in the United States when people vote for something a single judge can overrule that majority vote.

For example, “in June 2006, voters in Alabama overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment barring authorities from issuing marriage licenses to ‘parties of the same sex.’ The referendum passed with 81 percent of the vote.” That’s nearly 20 percent higher than the vote in Ireland to approve of same-sex marriage. So why is it that a single judge tried to rule that Alabama’s popular vote did not matter?

If a popular vote in Ireland matters on same-sex marriage, why are homosexuals going to the Supreme Court to have the court overrule 30 state governments that have either ruled in their legislatures or by referendums voted on the people to outlaw same-sex marriage?

If the Supreme Court votes to legalize same-sex marriage, that states that have voted to define marriage as being between a man and woman should point to the vote in Ireland and maintain that the popular votes in their states are valid.

It seems to me that the Supreme Court should send the issue back to the states since the Irish popular election to support same-sex marriage is acceptable to homosexuals. If a popular vote is acceptable in one case, then why not in 30 cases?

Reports are that the same-sexers had a great deal of international support, boat loads of money, and a compliant media behind their efforts to turn Ireland into a self-voting Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s what the voters wanted. Now they’ll have to live with it and all the ramifications that will come with legalizing sodomy.

It reminds me of 1 Samuel 8 where the people were warned what would happened if they voted their will contrary to God’s will:

“So Samuel spoke all the words of the LORD to the people who had asked of him a king. He said, ‘This will be the procedure of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and place them for himself in his chariots and among his horsemen and they will run before his chariots.  He will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and of fifties, and some to do his plowing and to reap his harvest and to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will also take your daughters for perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and your olive groves and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your seed and of your vineyards and give to his officers and to his servants. He will also take your male servants and your female servants and your best young men and your donkeys and use them for his work. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his servants. Then you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day’” (vv. 8-18).

Even after hearing this warning, “Nevertheless, the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said, ‘No, but there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.’”

Like the people in Samuel’s day, the majority of the people chose another god for themselves and what comes with that new god. There will be moral consequences. The homosexuals will not stop with this new protection. They will go after the children of Ireland. How do I know? Homosexuals have laid out their agenda for all to see. The indoctrination is taking place in every area of society. If you are foolish enough to send your children to government schools, don’t be surprised if your children start embracing the homosexual lifestyle and consider sodomy just one sexual lifestyle to enjoy, and your opposition to it will be publicly damned.
