I only get to listen to Rush Limbaugh when I’m in my car. Since I work from home, I miss most of Rush’s show.

The other day I was running a few errands and got to hear Rush on what he said about beating Democrats.

There was one brief segment where Rush talked about how Mitt Romney slaughtered Obama in their first debate and then backed off in subsequent debates. This was a huge mistake.

I’ve debated quite a few times. The goal is to build your case and then move in for the kill, metaphorically speaking.

I spend a great deal of time on my closing argument. It’s a quick summary of the major points of disagreement wrapped up with a neat bow so the audience leaves the debate with a clear picture of what the issues are. Compare and contrast with black and white efficiency.

I participated in a debate in February 2013 with two other men. People knew exactly what I believed. One of the debaters presented a complicated position that almost no one in the audience could articulate.

We are in an ideological war with liberals. Ideologies have consequences beyond rhetoric as we’re beginning to see.

Unfortunately, Republicans have not articulated a contrasting worldview. They are hoping that the Democrats will self-destruct on the growing unpopularity of President Obama. It’s not enough. People want to vote FOR something.
