There’s talk of a new running mate for President Obama – Hillary Clinton. But how do you get rid of Vice President Biden? He could pretend to have a terminal disease? He could claim that he wants to spend more time with his grandchildren. He’ll be 70 years old in November. He could argue that the job is really for someone younger who also has political experience.

An Obama-Clinton ticket would be formidable. But would Obama go for it? He knows that with Hillary he gets Bill.

Toni Morrison, who is black, wrote in the October 1998 issue of New Yorker that Bill Clinton was “The First Black President.” Consider the following:

Years ago, in the middle of the Whitewater investigation, one heard the first murmurs: white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald’s-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.

Did you catch that?: “Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.” Put that up against Obama being “The First Gay President.” What a striking contrast.

If there’s one thing President Obama does not like, it’s being upstaged. The President would be in the shadow of two Clintons. Biden playing the fool makes President Obama look . . . presidential.

In addition, if he picked Hillary, it would show the world that his presidency is in trouble. I can’t see him ever admitting such a thing. But stranger things have happened.

Obama may be forced to do it for the “good of the party.” The numbers are certainly on Hillary’s side as a new Gallup poll shows:

Americans remain nearly as positive toward Hillary Clinton today as they have ever been over the past 20 years. The secretary of state’s favorable rating remains at 66%, within one percentage point of her record-high rating in late 1998. Her unfavorable rating of 29% ties her record low since 1993.

Is it possible that the Democrat establishment got to Biden? Did they make him an offer he couldn’t refuse to get out or else? Maybe Biden isn’t as stupid as we’ve been made to believe. His diarrhea of the mouth may have been intentional forcing Obama to dump him.

But Hillary has her own problems. She’s popular when she’s not talking and legislating. Hillary on the ticket will only open old wounds. Does anybody remember “HillaryCare”?

So your guess is as good as mine. Dump or not dump? That is the question of the day.
