Today’s Illegal Immigrants are not Computer Programmers

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is pushing for amnesty and immigration reform. He is putting his vast fortune behind the effort. Zuckerberg, along with Bill Gates and other high profile technologists, has stated FWD.us. They want to move the knowledge economy forward.

So do I, but not at the expense of America as a whole.

The people invading our southern border are not computer programmers. Thousands of them are children. They are not the technologists that the founders of FWD need. They are political shock troops for the Democrat Party.

Are we to believe that train loads are children will be welcomed at the offices of Facebook, Dropbox, and Microsoft?

Here’s what President Joe Green of FWD.us is saying about the need for immigration reform:

“Every single day, our economy loses $38 million dollars; we have an immigration system that is outdated and broken; and there are 11 million undocumented immigrants who lack a pathway to getting with the law and coming out of the shadows — while millions of American families fear separation.”

I wonder how many millions of dollars our economy loses every day in funding the millions of illegal aliens who live off the largesse of our burgeoning welfare system. As I’ve written in other places, our generous welfare economy is a contributing factor in the cost analysis of illegal immigration. Yes, illegal immigrants contribute to the economy, but many of them don’t.

This isn’t to say that illegal immigrants are responsible for the American Welfare state. As Dr. Gary North has written, it was Anglos that created it.

Immigrants can add a great deal to the American experience. Millions already have. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to handle the problem. Blanket amnesty is not the right way.

Just talk about the possibility of amnesty has opened the flood gates of even more illegal immigration.

Zuckerberg and his amnesty compatriots are mixing apples and oranges. They want skilled professionals to enter the United States, and they are willing to let anybody in to get the people they need.

Maybe these tycoons should let loose of some of their billions and set up teaching centers around the country and train people who are already in the United States. Instead of requiring college educations, why not develop an educational system that meets their industry needs? Instead, they want the tax payers to fund them by overwhelming social services and our nation’s educational system paid by working and taxed Americans.

There are many young people already here who would crawl over broken glass to be part of such a program.

This is not to say that there shouldn’t be immigration reform, but let’s grow our economy from within first.
