Sen. John Kerry Wants to be Dictator-in-Chief

When a man like Democrat Sen. John Kerry has all the money he will ever need, the only thing that’s left for him is power. In his latest pontification, in an MSNBC interview on July 29, Kerry called on the media to censor Tea Party ideas that he and others like him consider “not factual.” Here are his extended remarks:

“The media in America has [sic] a bigger responsibility than it’s exercising today. The media has [sic] got to begin to not give equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion just because somebody asserts it or simply because somebody says something which everybody knows is not factual.”

“It doesn’t deserve the same credit as a legitimate idea about what you do. And the problem is everything is put into this tit-for-tat equal battle and America is losing any sense of what’s real, of who’s accountable, of who is not accountable, of who’s real, who isn’t, who’s serious, who isn’t?”

Kerry wants the news media to self-censor ideas that challenge his ideas. He can’t call for an outright censorship because the First Amendment prohibits Congress from interfering with the “freedom of the press.” Like global warming enthusiasts, abortion providers, evolutionists, and the homosexual lobby, Kerry wants to exclude competing ideas based on his understanding of what constitutes a “fact.” To Kerry, his bundle of facts is so self-evident that there is no longer any need to debate them. His is a scientific approach to factuality and government policy, and once science has spoken on an issue, there is nothing more to be said.

If there is a debate over facts, then Kerry and his ilk can’t control what facts the people get to hear. There can’t be a debate when one set of facts never gets a hearing. One of the first things a dictator will do when he assumes power is control the media. For most of this administration’s reign, the media have been pro-Obama and pro-Democrat, but now there are cracks in the support system, and Kerry is worried. Unable to control the media by decree, the Democrat Senator contends that the ideas of the Tea Party are “absurd” and “illegitimate” and should not be given equal weight. In fact, they shouldn’t be heard at all. One of these absurdities is the call for a balanced budget amendment. But in 1997, Kerry himself sponsored a balanced budget amendment.

Kerry does not want the media to report on fiscal conservatism because it would hurt his ability to secure more power for himself and his Democrat compatriots. Control of the purse strings gives him control of voters. He has no problem with raising taxes since he’s a multimillionaire, and the majority of people who keep him in office don’t pay federal income taxes. Of course, when he can avoid taxes, he does it in a grand and hypocritical way:

He is docking his family’s new $7 million yacht in Rhode Island, not Massachusetts, so he can save $500,000 in Bay State taxes. If the boat were docked at his summer vacation home on Nantucket, he would have to fork over $437,000 in a one-time sales tax and $70,000 in annual excise taxes. This tax saving is not absurd in Kerry’s mind. It is Tea Parties who should be censored by the media, he says, because they also aren’t “factual.”

Kerry married Teresa Heinz, the widow of Pennsylvania Senator H. John Heinz III, a Republican from Pennsylvania who died when a helicopter collided with his plane in 1991. As far back as 2004, the Los Angeles Times put Teresa Heinz’s wealth at between $900 million and $3.2 billion. Even without his wife’s inherited money, Kerry is wealthy in his own name, being the beneficiary of at least four trusts inherited from Forbes family members, including his mother, who died in 2002. Kerry is the wealthiest U.S. Senator. In 2006, his own wealth was estimated at $267,789,805.

Like all dictators, Kerry lives far above the people in wealth and status. He dictates austerity to everyone else, but maintains a standard of living that far exceeds 99.9 percent of all the people in the world. He has a lust for power and will do almost anything to maintain it, even if it means censoring the free flow of ideas, especially those ideas that threaten his will to power.
