Professor Says Climate Change Skepticism is a Sickness That Must be ‘Treated’
Professor Kari Norgaard has written a paper in which she argues that “cultural resistance” to the hypothesis that humans are responsible for climate-change “must be recognized and treated” as an aberrant sociological behavior. Yikes!
Should we expect to see re-education camps being set up, similar those in the Gulag camps in the former Soviet Union, so we can get our minds right if we question the climate change theorists? We already have them. They’re our nation’s schools and universities. Professor Norgaard teaches at the University of Oregon. This means she’s an agent of the State teaching a new religion:
Warmism has become a religion, and Oregon is its spiritual capital, so this would-be priestess of the cult calling for unbelievers to be brainwashed fits a pattern seen before in history. (Source)
The Australian columnist Andrew Bolt puts all of this in some historical perspective for us:
[T]he global warming faith licences the closet totalitarian. Imagine what such people as this sociologist feel licenced to do to us — for our own good, of course, as the Inquisition, Nazis and Bolsheviks insisted, too. Already some, like Professor Clive Hamilton, ponder the need for a “suspension of the democratic processes.”
Climate Change is the new moniker for what was once called Global Warming. It’s easier to prove that the climate changes than it is to prove a steady increase in the warming of the planet. Any variation in temperature can be attributed to man-made temperature variations.
Many of you may be aware of the June 24, 1974 TIME magazine that included the article “Science, Another Ice Age?” Ice-Age science was confirmed in 1977 when TIME carried the story “How to Survive the Coming Ice Age” that included “51 Things You Can Do to Make a Difference.” Consider the following from the 1974 article:
As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval. However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.
Did you notice that the article concluded that “the trend shows no indication of reversing”? If Professor Kari Norgaard had been teaching in the 1970s, would she have called for similar re-education requirements for anyone who resisted the Global Cooling science of the day?
