President Obama Has a Big Bill and Hillary Problem

If you’ve seen the film You’ve Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, you’ll remember a few references to The Godfather. Here’s one of my favorites spoken by Hanks’ character, Joe Fox:

“The Godfather is the I-ching. The Godfather is the sum of all wisdom. The Godfather is the answer to any question. What should I pack for my summer vacation? ‘Leave the gun, take the cannoli.’ What day of the week is it? ‘Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday.’”

But there is another famous Godfather line that author Mario Puzo based on wisdom given to him by his mother who was the model for Vito Corleone’s character.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

President Obama understood this well enough. That’s why he made Hillary Clinton Secretary of State. She couldn’t oppose him in word or deed.

Now that Obama’s campaign looks to be in trouble, Bill Clinton sees an opportunity to undermine his campaign further. These are two big egos fighting for legacy supremacy. Bill Clinton sees his chance to cement his political credentials by submarining Barack Obama’s second term. This will set Hillary up to run against Mitt Romney in 2016 and put Bill back in the White House.

Bill Clinton may be a political opportunist, but he’s not a Marxist. He likes the 1%. He doesn’t have a beef with America like Obama does.

The election of Hillary in 2016 will give Bill a chance to restore his reputation to a new generation of voters and do down in history as the greatest president of the 20th century. The only think standing in his way is a second Obama term.
