DC’s new ‘gay’ super hero is . . . Green Lantern! This new incarnation of Green Lantern does not have his own comic, and he lives on a parallel earth . . . Earth 2. It’s as if DC has put homosexuality back in the closet. If DC was really behind their homosexual fans, the company would have made Superman or Batman into a ‘gay’ superhero. They’ve seen the numbers. The majority of Americans oppose homosexual marriage. Every state voting to deny homosexuals the right to marry has passed.

So DC can have its cake and eat it too. By making not-so-popular characters ‘gay,’ the homosexual community is appeased and the general public tolerates the nod to political correctness.

“This guy, he’s a media mogul, a hero, a dynamic type-A personality and he’s gay,” James Robinson, who writes the new series, said. “He’s a complex character.” I wonder if DC will show the latest incarnation of Green Lantern at an X-rated ‘Gay Pride’ parade dressed up like a woman.

Comic creators have been pushing the sexual envelope with the introduction of homosexual characters for some time. The first one was Northstar in the abysmal Alpha Flight series that never gained much of an audience following. Northstar is Canadian and not a main character.

DC continued the trend by making Batwoman a “lipstick lesbian,” a non-stereotypical feminine lesbian who moonlights as a crime fighter1 Put simply, she doesn’t look like Rosie O’Donnell so teenage boys can still drool over her. Batwoman does not drive comic book sales. If she disappears from the DC franchise, hardly anyone will notice. In fact, “creative differences” are already jeopardizing the market viability of the title.

The homosexual community’s strategy is evident, however: To soften public opinion to adopt the homosexual lifestyle as morally acceptable. DC had already appeased the homosexual lobby by creating a number of openly lesbian characters such as Gotham City police officer Renee Montoya, police captain Maggie Sawyer, and Holly Robinson, the best friend and protégée of Catwoman, all minor characters.

In time, Green Lantern will be forgotten. He will disappear or be relegated to further obscurity in some future incarnation. The general comic-book-buying public doesn’t want to read about the sexual predilections of their fictional superhero characters.

Why are comic book publishers, retailers like Target and JC Penney, and businesses like Starbucks trying to capture the homosexual market when it is so small? The Atlantic is reporting that “Surveys show a shockingly high fraction think a quarter of the country is gay or lesbian, when the reality is that it’s probably less than 2 percent.” There aren’t enough homosexuals to keep the comic book industry alive. Homosexuals have moved into every area of life with the goal of “define deviancy down.” There’s a lesson here. If homosexuals have been able to impose their view of the world on us while being just 2 percent of the population, imagine what we could do if we put similar effort into cultural and social change.
