Obamas Tell US: “Let Them Eat Cake!”

The phrase “Let them eat cake” is attributed to Marie Antoinette. It is claimed to have been said by her during one of the famines that occurred in France during the reign of her husband Louis XVI. Upon being alerted that the people were suffering due to widespread bread shortages, the Queen is said to have replied, “Then let them eat brioche.”1

You’ve heard, or maybe you haven’t, the Obamas threw an extravagant Alice in Wonderland-theme party. Here’s how the New York Post reported the story:

A White House “Alice in Wonderland” costume ball — put on by Johnny Depp and Hollywood director Tim Burton — proved to be a Mad-as-a-Hatter idea that was never made public for fear of a political backlash during hard economic times, according to a new tell-all.

I don’t care if the President and his family have a party. But I resent being lectured by the president that businesses are not doing enough to employ people and aren’t sharing in the sacrifices that less fortunate Americans have had to endure.

The word “hypocrisy” comes to mind. If tax money was spent, I’m ticked off. If private money was spent, I’m still ticked off. Why didn’t the president appeal to the people putting on the party to spend the money to help families that lost jobs or couldn’t make a house payment? Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are one-percenters.

You know very well that if George Bush had put on such a bash that it would have been leaked to the media and the former president and his wife would be shown dressed in costumes made to look like King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, the king and queen of France during the time of the French Revolution.

The book The Obamas by New York Times correspondent Jodi Kantor

reveals how any official announcement of the glittering affair — coming at a time when Tea Party activists and voters furious over the lagging economy, 10-percent unemployment rate, bank bailouts and Obama’s health-care plan were staging protests — quickly vanished down the rabbit hole.

“White House officials were so nervous about how a splashy, Hollywood-esque party would look to jobless Americans — or their representatives in Congress, who would soon vote on health care — that the event was not discussed publicly and Burton’s and Depp’s contributions went unacknowledged,” the book says.

Calls for “fairness” and “shared sacrifice” roll off the tongue of the righteously indignant while they live a life of ease at the expense of their subjects. They believe that they are not bound by the rules that we must follow. They are special.

It’s a shame that the Black community of voters don’t see through this, but they haven’t for a long time. They’re used to so-called Black leaders living off their hardships. What has Obama done for Blacks? Only made them more dependent on government.
