There’s never a lack of good material to write about for the Godfather Politics site. Some days there’s so much to comment on that I find myself overwhelmed with the collective stupidity of so many people.

I consider myself fairly well informed on pop culture and the latest faux celebrities, but I have to say that I had never heard of Steven Morrissey.

He was with a group called “The Smiths.” Apparently he was and maybe still is big.

During an online interview with fans, Morrissey said, “I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia. They are both rape, violence, murder.”

He doesn’t even want to associate with meat eaters.

“If I’m introduced to anyone who eats beings, I walk away. Imagine, for example, if you were in a nightclub and someone said to you ‘Hello, I enjoy bloodshed, throat-slitting and the destruction of life,’ well, I doubt if you’d want to exchange phone numbers.”

“In February 2013, after much speculation, it was reported that the Staples Center had agreed for the first time ever to make every vendor in the area 100% vegetarian for Morrissey’s 1 March performance, contractually having all McDonald’s vendors close down. In a press release, Morrissey stated, ‘I don’t look upon it as a victory for me, but a victory for the animals.’ The request was previously denied to Paul McCartney. Despite these reports, the Staples Center retained some meat vendors while closing down McDonalds. Later in February, Morrissey cancelled an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! after learning that the guests for that night also included the cast of Duck Dynasty, a show about a family who create duck calls for use in hunting. Morrissey referred to the cast as ‘animal serial killers.’”

Many animals rape and kill other animals. Does Morrissey include them in his moral denouncement? If he owns a cat or a dog, isn’t he associating with meat eaters?

Morrissey is an animal rights advocate and supports People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). How can this be? Has he gone to these animals and told the wolf not to eat the lamb or the lion to stop eating the gazelle? Hasn’t he seen the film 2005 Madagascar where the other animals help Alex the lion to eat sushi instead of steak? But alas, sushi is still made with animals since fish are part of the animal kingdom.

PETA is woefully inconsistent since it does not have a sister organization like Animals for the Ethical Treatment of Other Animals.

Why is it morally OK for animals to eat other animals but not for humans to eat animals?

I don’t know what his view of origins is, but if he believes in evolution, then he and the rest of us got here by raping, killing, and eating our own kind. This makes him a direct descendant of rapists, cannibals, and murderers. It’s part of his inherited genetic code.

Morrissey is selective in his moral outrage. “In the past he wished death upon Margaret Thatcher, which led to an investigation of the singer, and later said he wished George W. Bush had died instead of Ronald Reagan when the former president passed away.”
