Let’s Support the Sarah Silverman Abortion Fundraiser

A friend and colleague of mine used a debate tactic that he described as “pushing or forcing the antithesis.” The tactic is simple. Adopt the operating assumption of a person’s worldview and push them to live consistently with it. For example, if someone says, “There are no absolutes,” then point out that making that statement becomes nonsensical because it’s put forth as an absolute.

To take it a step further, I would then ask, forcing the antithesis, “If I put a gun to your head and pull the trigger and blow your brains out, have I committed a moral wrong given that there are no moral absolutes?” People don’t like to be confronted with the full consequences of their worldview. It makes them very uncomfortable.

It’s no different when it comes to social issues like abortion and homosexuality. By pushing the antithesis, we point out the long-term consequences of abortion, especially for those who are consistent with it.

Hollywood is all atwitter over supporting abortion. Sarah Silverman, the raunchy less-funny-everyday comic wants to raise money to support pro-abortion candidates. She started with a fundraiser in support of Wendy Davis, the new Texas darling of the blood sport of abortion who pushed for legalizing abortion for unborn babies past the 20-week date.

Silverman has since moved on to more carnage, and she’s dragging her friends into the bloody world of abortion:

“The shock comedian, who lent her talents to an online fundraiser for a Texas abortion group two months ago, is back to raise more cash for the cause this weekend.

“Sunday’s ‘A Night of a Thousand Vaginas’ fundraiser, to feature Hangover star Zach Galifianakis and comedian Laura Kightlinger, also hopes to boost the coffers of a Texas abortion group dedicated to ‘reproductive rights.’

“Silverman’s previous fundraiser found her hawking a ‘vaginal napkin’ to raise funds. Galifianakis, meanwhile, is no stranger to politics. He co-starred in the 2012 comedy The Campaign, a movie which took aim at the right-leaning Koch brothers for their political donations while ignoring liberal donors like George Soros.

“The L.A.-based fundraiser, which features tickets as high as $100, is a sellout.”

I’m in full support of their efforts. I hope to see more of these events. The less these people breed the better. Silverman will be 44 years old this year. She doesn’t have any children, and menopause is around the corner. “She has stated she does not want to get married until same-sex couples are able to. She has also stated she does not want to have biological children to avoid the risk that they might inherit her depression.”

Silverman’s depression might be related to her nihilistic worldview. Raising money to help women kill their unborn children has got to have an impact on a person.

Sarah Silverman is forcing her own antithesis. As a consistent abortionist, she has cut herself off from the future. If she remains consistent with her pro-abortion worldview, it all ends with Sarah Silverman.

These liberal elites do what they do for the money. Silverman is raking it in while pushing an ultimately self-destructive worldview.

 They have set up kings, but not by Me;
They have appointed princes, but I did not know it
With their silver and gold they have made idols for themselves,
That they might be cut off (Hosea 8:4).

Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before stumbling (Prov. 16:18).
