The economy is not reviving, but Obama’s pen and phone strategy could solve the economic malaise. Yes, there are some sectors that are doing well. But across the board the economy is struggling. Tens of millions of Americans are no longer in the work force. Black youth unemployment is at record levels.

Obama believes that government management of the economy is the solution:

“Calling for ‘all hands on deck’ to assist the economy, President Barack Obama is urging his Cabinet to identify ways to keep his administration relevant to people struggling in the up-and-down recovery.”

Contrary to what liberals think, Barack Obama is not god. Billions of economic decisions are made every day around the world. These very personal economic decisions cannot be managed. When politicians, tyrants, and kings try to do it, they kill the geese that lay the golden eggs.

President Obama wants to fix all of this. The trouble is, he doesn’t know how because he doesn’t want to take the only medicine that will cure our nation’s economic ills.

In fact, if free market economics coupled with lower taxes and fewer regulations was the last medicine in the medicine cabinet, he would flush it down the toilet and then blame the cancer on the medicine.

So what’s his latest solution to get the economy going? Dictatorship!

“‘We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,’ Obama said Tuesday as he convened his first Cabinet meeting of the year.

“And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward in helping to make sure our kids are getting the best education possible, making sure that our businesses are getting the kind of support and help they need to grow and advance, to make sure that people are getting the skills that they need to get those jobs that our businesses are creating.”

These are the words of a dictator. If by Executive Order the president can do one thing, by Executive Order he can do many things. Congress has done almost nothing about his previous Executive orders. What makes anybody think they’ll stop him in the future?

What if Obama signs an Executive Order to confiscate all money over $50,000 in savings and retirement accounts to be redistributed so that economic inequality is eliminated?

We’ve had the confiscation of gold and the internment of Japanese Americans. With nearly half of Americans not paying income tax, how many of these people do you think would protest a wholesale asset confiscation and redistribution? Economic self-interest is the name of the game.

And if amnesty is every passed, it will even be easier for Obama or someone else to use the “pen-and-phone” divide and conquer strategy.
