Democrat Dick Durbin Says if You Don’t Buy a Hybrid Car We’re all Going to Die!

Every time there’s a weather event, liberal climate change fanatics tell us that our world is coming to an end, but if we do what government forces us to do, we’ll all survive. The latest Statist Chicken Little is Sen. Dick Durbin. The tornadoes that hit Dallas, Texas, last week is supposed to be incontrovertible evidence that “climate change” is real and humans are the ones who are responsible.

Global warming is said to be a recent phenomenon caused by excessive carbon emissions. If this is true, then what do we make of the tornado activity “that struck most of the Southern United States from April 2 to the early hours of April 4, 1957. The outbreak was most notable due to a tornado that hit a densely populated area of the Dallas Metropolitan area, while other deadly tornadoes struck portions of Mississippi, Texas, and Oklahoma. The two-day outbreak killed at least 19 across 3 states and produced 50 tornadoes from Texas to Tennessee.”

We know that in the 1970s, scientists were warning us about global cooling. What changed in 40 years? Certainly not carbon emissions since in the first half of the 20th century there smoke-stack cities like Pittsburgh pumping out the stuff like there was no tomorrow.

Global warming advocates are not much different from Burt Lancaster’s character in The Rainmaker (1956). Lancaster plays a con man that comes to a small town with the promise that he can make it rain.

Durbin and his fellow-climate change enthusiasts are political con men who believe they can control the weather through legislation. Like Lancaster’s character, it’s all a con to get our money and control our lives. But Lancaster only wants a hundred bucks. Durbin wants billions.

So what does Durbin want to fix our environment? He wants more expensive laws regulating carbon output. What’s the come on – every con has one – for us to support him? He’s issued a dire warning that we must convert to hybrid cars or lose our life. Of course, there’s always money involved – our money and his control of it.

“It’s your money or your life,” he said at a press conference. “We are either going to dedicate ourselves to a cleaner, more livable planet and accept the initial investment necessary or we’re going to pay a heavier price in terms of loss of human life, damage and costs associated with it.”

Hybrid cars take energy to run. Where will the energy come from? Durbin is like the woman in the documentary I saw about coal in West Virginia. She asked why we need coal. Couldn’t we just use electricity? In addition to being a high priced con man, Durbin believes in magic.
