Why Liberals Won’t Be Able to Shut Down Rush Limbaugh and Conservative Talk Radio

Once again liberals are huffing and puffing over conservative talk radio. Some on the left are calling for Rush Limbaugh to be killed. That’s right. There’s a song — a very bad one — that openly calls for the killing of Rush Limbaugh. It’s being promoted on YouTube and Facebook, two media sites that usually reject such things. You can hear the refrain “Kill . . . kill . . . kill” but not much else in the very bad piece of “music.” Here’s the Facebook tagline for the Metal band DÉTENTE that performs the “song”:

Disgusted by Rush Limbaugh’s recent antics? Blast our song, ‘KILL RUSH’

Of course, the liberals will dismiss the group and the movement, saying it’s on the fringes and it’s “entertainment.” Their double standard showed when they would not condemn Bill Maher for his truly offensive remarks about conservative women because he’s a “comedian.”

You know a worldview is about to expire when it does two things: (1) threatens violence and (2) calls for censorship. The City Council of Los Angeles approved a resolution on a 13 to 2 vote calling on local TV and radio stations to limit any “racist” and “sexist” comments on their broadcasts. Sounds reasonable until you ask this question: Who will determine what’s racist and sexist? Just to criticize a policy of Barack Obama is said to be racist because he’s black. These are the tactics of desperate people.

The ultra liberal Media Matters is spending $100,000 for two ads that will run in eight cities. I hope they spend more. Spend, spend, spend.

Ad time was purchased in Boston; Chicago; Detroit; Seattle; Milwaukee; St. Louis; Macon, Ga.; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The cities were selected to support active local campaigns against Limbaugh or because of perceptions Limbaugh may be vulnerable in that market, said Angelo Carusone of Media Matters.

Did you notice that most of these cities are liberal in political affiliation? Who’s going to be listening? Liberals. They already hate Rush.

Are there any liberal talk shows anymore? Even Oprah is finding it difficult to hold her OWN television network together. She’s fired 30 of her staff and cancelled the talk-show hosted by Rosie O’Donnell, hopefully forever. No one wants to listen to an angry lesbian.

Where will the advertisers go if conservative talk radio takes a hit by overzealous government intrusion that’s hell-bent on silencing a competing opinion in the name of civil discourse? There is no place to go. Liberal talk-radio is an oxymoron. It doesn’t exist except on subsidized PBS stations. Yes, there are a few on the networks and cable channels, but they cater to liberal audiences that out of touch with reality. They’re nowhere to be found among the top 15 shows.

Conservative talk radio is where advertisers want to go. They know that conservatives are loyal to companies that share their values.

Unless the government gets involved, the market will decide Rush Limbaugh’s fate. If advertisers and listeners turn off Rush, then it is too late for all of us. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, watch the film The Pianist (2002) to find out what we could be up against if liberals win.
