Weekly White House Bible Study Inflaming the Atheists
A group of some of the most influential policy makers of the Executive Branch are attending a weekly Bible study in the White House. Now, the atheists are upset. . . .
The Washington Post summarizes the original story:
Weekly Bible study classes are being held at the White House, and some Trump administration officials — including Vice President Pence, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos — join when they are in town, according to a story on the Christian Broadcasting Network. (See video below.)
The classes are led by Ralph Drollinger, founder of D.C.-based Capitol Ministries, which lists the following as its mission on its website:
Trending: She Who Is in Babylon
The BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal) of Capitol Ministries is to deliver the Gospel to every public servant, in every capitol every year! Since our founding in 1996 our vision has not changed: to evangelize elected officials and lead them toward maturity in Christ. We stay away from politics and concentrate on the hearts of leaders. Our above purpose statement reflects this. . . .
CBN reported that DeVos, Sessions, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price have been among the participants, and that President Trump has been invited and receives a copy of each week’s Bible lesson.
But there’s a problem. The ministry’s leader, Ralph Drollinger, explained that the study seems to be having an effect:
It quoted Drollinger as saying: “It’s the best Bible study that I’ve ever taught in my life. They are so teachable. They’re so noble. They’re so learned. . . . ”
Drollinger was quoted as saying this about Sessions: “He’ll go out the same day I teach him something and I’ll see him do it on camera and I just think, ‘Wow, these guys are faithful, available and teachable,’ and they’re at Bible study every week they’re in town.”
And now, the atheists are raving mad:
America’s atheists are losing faith — in President Trump.
For months, secular organizations say they have unsuccessfully lobbied the president to make an effort to reach out to America’s nonreligious community. Now, revelations of a weekly Bible study group in the Trump White House, regularly attended by high-ranking Cabinet members, has free thinkers up in arms.
The Freedom From Religious Foundation is calling the Bible study group disturbing, scary and maybe even an illegal use of taxpayer funds.
“If those officials want privacy, the solution is pretty damn simple: Study the Bible in your private capacity, not in your official capacity and at your government desk,” the secular group said in a statement Thursday. “Do it on your time, not the taxpayers’. In short, get off your knees and get to work.”
The atheists want the politicians to drop their Bible classes. In March, the atheists sent a letter to President Trump asking him to “ensure religious freedon and inclusion for all Americans” throughout his stay in the office. Now, they are saying he has an “obligation to represent all Americans.”
LIBERAL POLICIES, BIBLICAL SINS
This is true. He does represent all Americans. Even those who didn’t vote for him. But why are they complaining? Is this any different than when liberal Presidents consult with “expert” liberals about how to formulate and implement liberal policies?
To Christians, politics is not religion, but that is not true for humanists. Since there is no such thing to them as the supernatural, no divine origin of the universe, no God in ultimate control through his sovereign plan, then the next best thing is humanity.
More specifically, central government, a central state, run by elite liberals. They think allowing boys into the girls restroom is just fine. Obama thought this was just fine, which is why Trump had to reverse the rule.
The atheists are upset because when people apply the Bible to their daily thoughts, words, and deeds, it leads to a certain set of behavior. It turns people into followers of Christ, who had a specific code of ethics.
That code of ethics is hostile to the liberal agenda.
It calls homosexuality a capital crime (Lev. 20:13). And abortion, too. Abortion isn’t “the right to choose.”
It’s murder. Murder is a specific crime and sin (Ex. 21:22-25).
The Bible even denounces transgenderism. It forbids men from wearing women’s clothing (Deut. 22:5). It forbids the “social safety net” because it labels the act of using government goons to shake down your neighbors to fund your retirement as theft: Thou shalt not steal.
In other words, the Bible condemns the liberal agenda. Almost everything the liberals stand for, the Bible denounces as detestable. Therefore, when they see Bible studies having influence in the lives of politicians, they start getting nervous.
But that’s ok.
