President Obama: Koran Apology ‘Calmed Things Down’

Two articles caught my attention. The first one was about the apology that President Obama gave for the inadvertent burning of Korans desecrated by Muslim prisoners. In an interview with ABC News, the president said that his formal apology to Afghan President Hamid Karzai has “calmed things down” after the incident sparked an outbreak of violence across the country that resulted in the death of four US soldiers.

He went on to say, “We’re not out of the woods yet. But my criteria in any decision I make, getting recommendations from folks who are actually on the ground, is what is going to best protect our folks and make sure that they can accomplish their mission.”

The other article carried this headline:

“Quran-burning soldiers to face trial.”

The President set himself up for further retaliation by the Muslim world. Here’s what was in his letter to President Karzai: “I extend to you and the Afghan people my sincere apologies. We will take the appropriate steps to avoid any recurrence, to include holding accountable those responsible.” The people who burned the Korans didn’t do anything wrong. What will they be held accountable for?

Apparently the deaths at the hands of a crazed Islamic mob of the four American soldiers who had nothing to do with the burning of the Korans weren’t payment enough. “Everything else — the politics or second guessing of these various decisions — I’m not worried about,” Obama said. Tell that to the families of the soldiers who were killed in cold blood by these crazies.

In civilized nations, people would not be put on trial for burning a Bible. In fact, our own government burns lots of Bibles in Afghanistan with the hope of not offending Muslims. Instead of importing the Book of Life to these spiritually dead nations, our government believes that salvation will come out of the barrel of a gun or the launching of a cruise missile.

Did the Christian faithful riot in the streets, shoot soldiers at random, and then argue that the only proper retribution is to burn down our nation’s Capitol when they heard how our soldiers were commanded to burn Bibles meant for the redemption of millions of lost Muslim souls?

The radicals in these Muslim nations will never calm down. They regularly burn down churches, persecute Christians, and deny Muslim converts the freedom to embrace Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

If they didn’t have us to attack, they would be attacking one another.
