It’s OK for Joe Biden to talk about how Republicans are going to enslave black people if Mitt Romney gets elected, but don’t you dare tell a joke about the controversy surrounding President Obama’s birth certificate.

Democrats have no trouble saying that Mitt Romney is an accomplice to murder, but any talk about President Obama’s birthplace is verboten.

Describing Mitt Romney as a “felon” is an acceptable campaign charge but bringing up Obama’s birth certificate is seen as felonious assault on the president.

Mitt Romney can be charged with not paying taxes for 10 years with no evidence to prove the charge, but a crowd-pleasing reference to the birth certificate issue makes the GOP contender a presidential non-contender:

Yes, Mitt Romney just went there — joking, of course, but never expect the left to have a sense of humor. He told a home town crowd in Michigan: “Now I love being home in this place where Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born. Ann was born in Henry Ford hospital. I was born in Harper Hospital. No one has asked to see my birth certificate — they know that this is the place where we were born and raised.”

This was Saturday Night Live material. Jay Leno couldn’t have said it better.

It’s true that Liberals do not have a sense of humor. They can dish it out, but they can’t take it. What really gets them is that Romney didn’t need a teleprompter to deliver the funny line.

Let’s be clear about the “birther” issue: It was birthed by the Clintons not Republicans. If it was a good enough issue for the Democrats, then it’s certainly a good enough issue for Republicans, especially when it was used to poke fun at the President.

But as everyone knows, President Obama has very thin skin.

Obama, his fellow-Democrats, and the liberal media are making a big mistake in attacking Romney on the birth certificate issue. In fact, Romney never said a thing about Obama’s birth certificate. Most people had forgotten about the topic or dismissed it until Obama and friends brought the subject up again. Now there are new suspicions about Obama’s national and ideological origins.
