Obama is Loaded with Union Super PACs

It wasn’t too long ago that President Obama denounced the Supreme Court ruling which granted freedom for organizations to campaign for or against political candidates. That was then:

Two years ago, while delivering his State of the Union address, President Obama looked the Supreme Court justices in the face and told them they were wrong to have allowed special interests to spend without limits on campaigns. “I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests,” he said. “They should be decided by the American people.”

This is now:

On Monday, the president abandoned that fundamental principle and gave in to the culture of the Citizens United decision that he once denounced as a “threat to our democracy.”

His aides announced that the Obama campaign would begin to assist the “super PAC” that can raise and spend unlimited sums to support the president’s re-election effort. Even White House and cabinet officials are expected to appear at fund-raising events for Priorities USA Action.

This is a joke. Obama has always believed in Super PACs. They’re called UNIONS! The 1.4 million-member International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the 2-million member Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and the 3.2 million-member National Education Association (NEA) are mega-contributors to Obama and other Democrats. If it weren’t for unions, no Democrat would ever become President of the United States.

“The NEA asserts itself as ‘non-partisan,’ but critics point out that the NEA has endorsed and provided support for every Democratic Party presidential nominee from Jimmy Carter to Barack Obama and has never endorsed any Republican or third party candidate for the presidency.”

The unions need the Democrats, and the Democrats need the unions. Case in point Senator Bob Casey, (D-Pa.) “is introducing legislation for a bailout of troubled union pension funds. If passed, the bill could put another $165 billion in liabilities on the shoulders of American taxpayers.

The Democrat Super PAC will only increase the already large political war chest of the Democrats.

It’s no accident that the current Teamsters headquarters (the “Marble Palace”) is in Washington, D.C. across from the United States Senate.
