Nancy Pelosi Attacks Archbishop over ‘Traditional Marriage’

What’s the Catholic Church waiting for? Nancy Pelosi claims to be a Roman Catholic, and yet she supports abortion on demand and same-sex everything. She should have been excommunicated a long time ago.

If her past record wasn’t enough evidence to pull the plug on her Catholicism, her latest blasphemy doesn’t give the church much room for tolerance:

“In an astonishing challenge to traditional Catholic doctrine, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, nominally Catholic, has taken to telling San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone that he should not attend the National Organization for Marriage’s June 19 march on the Supreme Court in Washington D.C.

“Cordileone is scheduled to be a featured speaker at the event, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, which is consistent with his championing of Proposition 8 in 2008. Cordileone helped raise $1.5 million for the initiative, which intended to ban same-sex marriage in the state. He once said, ‘The ultimate attack of the evil one is the attack on marriage.’

“Pelosi, who called the event ‘venom masquerading as virtue,’ wrote to Cordileone, ‘We share our love of the Catholic faith and our city of San Francisco,’ adding that the event would feature some participants displaying ‘disdain and hate towards LGBT persons,’ and asserting, ‘If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?’

“The March for Marriage, which was initiated last year, features thousands of people standing up for ‘traditional marriage’ walking from the U.S Capitol to the Supreme Court. Among the speakers are Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.”

Don’t you just love Pelosi’s sanctimonious religiosity?: “If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?”

Someone seeking the Lord would obey the Lord, and obeying the Lord means to stop engaging in same-sex sexuality.

On her claim of “who am I to judge?” Isn’t she judging Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone and everyone else who has taken a position on same-sex sexuality on the clear testimony of Scripture, a system of ethics she claims to obey?

Pelosi says she believes she must pursue public policies “in keeping with the values” of Jesus Christ, “The Word made Flesh.” At a May 6, 2010 Catholic Community Conference on Capitol Hill, she said: “They ask me all the time, ‘What is your favorite this? What is your favorite that?’ And one time, ‘What is your favorite word?’ And I said, ‘My favorite word? That is really easy. My favorite word is the Word, is the Word. And that is everything. It says it all for us. And you know the biblical reference, you know the Gospel reference of the Word.”

Not judging is a one-way street with liberals.

By the way, nowhere does the Bible say never to judge. Jesus calls for consistency in judgment (Matt. 7:1-2). We are not to judge “according to appearance” but to “judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24).

If the Church leadership does no excommunicate her (and some others like Andrew Cuomo), then it’s time to pull up stakes, sell the church’s assets, and given the proceeds to the poor.
