Marvel Comic Book Includes Anti-Christian/Jewish Qur’an Verse

In a scene of Marvel’s X-Men Gold #1 by Indonesian artist Ardian Syaf, published last Wednesday [4/5/17]. . . “Colossus’ shirt has the numbers QS 5:51” stamped on it. “QS stands for Qur’an Surah, with Surah meaning chapter.” (Bleeding Cool)

The verse translates into English as ‘O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are, in fact, allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is one of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.’”

There are other pro-Islam images and references throughout other Marvel issues drawn by Ardian Syaf. In a way, the chickens are coming home to roost for Marvel. The company has been pushing an ultra-inclusive agenda for some time. If “anything goes” if it’s art and inclusive, who can object? Where is the line drawn, and who gets to draw that line.

Here’s the official statement from Marvel:

“The mentioned artwork in X-Men Gold #1 was inserted without knowledge behind its reported meanings. These implied references do not reflect the views of the writer, editors or anyone else at Marvel and are in direct opposition of the inclusiveness of Marvel Comics and what the X-Men have stood for since their creation. This artwork will be removed from subsequent printings, digital versions, and trade paperbacks and disciplinary action is being taken.”

As we’ll see, Marvel didn’t apologize or issue a similar statement when a Thor comic attacked Christians.

Controversy over the content of comic books is not new. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, storylines in comic books were brought to the attention of parents and government officials. Comic books were described by Frederic Wertham as “blueprints for delinquency.” At the time, some comic books were gruesome, and crime comics seemed to extol criminal behavior. The comic critic Wertham was a psychiatrist who believed that reading comics led to violent criminal behavior in young people. His book Seduction of the Innocent (1954) and his testimony before Congress nearly put an end to the comic book industry until the publishers took matters into their own hands and implemented the “Comics Code Authority.”

Marvel Comics, publishers of such popular titles as X-Men, Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, and The Incredible Hulk, officially dropped the code in 2001. Independent publishers like Image and the now defunct Valiant never adopted the code. But even before the code’s recent official demise, some comic lines pushed the envelope of good taste and immorality by becoming sex-obsessed, anti-Christian, blasphemous, and occultic, points made well by John Fulce’s book Seduction of the Innocent Revisited.

But even before the code’s end, Marvel and DC had consistency ignored it. Thor (330) has the “God of Thunder” fighting the “Crusader,” a not-so-subtle slam at Christian conservatives in 1983. The tag line?: “The Cry of the Crusader.”

Then there was the first homosexual character in the Canadian super-team Alpha Flight: Northstar “as you’ve never known him before!” he comes out of the closet as the first self-proclaimed “gay” character. Of course, retro-homosexual history has pronounced the Caped Crusader (Batman) and the Boy Wonder (Robin) as having a “special relationship.”

Marvel revived the 1950’s character “The Rawhide Kid” as openly homosexual. This was first openly homosexual title character in a comic book.

A controversial five-issue miniseries, Rawhide Kid vol. 3 (April-June 2003), titled “Slap Leather” was published biweekly by Marvel’s mature-audience MAX imprint. Here the character was depicted as homosexual, with a good portion of the dialogue dedicated to innuendo to this effect. The series, which was written by Ron Zimmerman, and drawn by artist John Severin, was labeled with a “Parental Advisory Explicit Content” warning on the cover. Series editor Axel Alonso said, “We thought it would be interesting to play with the genre. Enigmatic cowboy rides into dusty little desert town victimized by desperadoes, saves the day, wins everyone’s heart, then rides off into the sunset, looking better than any cowboy has a right to.” (Wiki)

The same-sex and Islamic agendas are cut from the same cloth. They will use every means at their disposal to get out their message. Get to young people. This latest incident will not stop Marvel from using its publishing platform to propagandize for radical causes.
