Liberal Outrage on Detaining Children but Not Killing Them
Wonders never cease. Almost overnight, Liberals are using the Bible as a textbook for governing on the topic of immigration. They hate the Bible when it addresses abortion and same-sex sexuality, but they love the Bible when they think they’ve found Bible passages that support socialism and wealth redistribution of which there are none.
At the same time that some Leftists have embraced the Bible on immigration, other Leftists are slamming the Bible when it says to obey the government.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions says that the immigration issue is a legal issue. Those who enforce our nation’s laws take an oath to follow and implement those laws. Sessions cited the Bible to defend this time-honored position:
I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order.
Anyone familiar with the Bible knows that not every action by the government should be obeyed. Generally speaking, however, we are to obey the governing authorities. There are times when we have the right to resist because there is a “law above the law.”
Congress has had ample opportunity to fix immigration. All of the attacks on Trump are pure political theater. None of what we’re seeing today began with the Trump administration.
The laws that relate to illegal immigration have been around for a long time. Many of them going back to 1997 and the Clinton administration. These laws were on the books during Obama’s two terms, and neither he nor his fellow-Democrats said a thing about them:
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) admitted he knew the Obama administration attempted to cover-up the child migrant crisis in 2013 and 2014, which was exposed when a photo of two children sleeping inside a cage went viral.
“It was kept very quiet under the Obama administration. There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet,” Cueller said. (The Blaze)
Of course, there was a cover-up. Obama was the media’s god. They were part of the Obama Cult and its biggest evangelists.
Chris Enloe, writing for The Blaze, comments, “Romans 13 has been used to justify very abhorrent acts, such as, most notably, slavery.” True enough. I believe abortion, a violation of the sixth commandment, and the progressive income tax, a violation of the eighth commandment, are “abhorrent acts,” and yet Liberals have no use for people who resist the government on these government atrocities.
Remember Operation Rescue, founded by Randall Terry in 1986, and the organization’s daily work to oppose abortion? Those involved cited the following verse to support their actions:
Deliver those who are being taken away to death,
And those who are staggering to slaughter, Oh hold them back.
If you say, “See, we did not know this,”
Does He not consider it who weighs the hearts?
And does He not know it who keeps your soul?
And will He not render to man according to his work? (Prov. 24:11-12)
The slogan of Operation Rescue was “If you believe abortion is murder, act like it’s murder.” The New York Times ran an article quoting John Snow, a retired accountant who sat on the sidewalk across from abortionist George Tiller’s clinic in Wichita, Kansas, “dispensing Kool-Aid and saying the rosary: ‘They’re in there killing babies, nothing else, ma’am.'”
Detaining children of illegal aliens is condemned by the Left while killing unborn babies is celebrated. Our government even uses confiscated tax dollars to fund our nation’s biggest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.
The child separation issue is being used as a media football in a game of political upmanship. Comparing what’s taking place to slavery and concentration/slave labor camps ((Never-Trumper Gen. Michael Hayden, a militaristic whacko, compared the detention of 2000 minor children to a Nazi death and work camp with an image that looks like a Nazi extermination center where millions of Jews were exterminated.)) is over the top when you find out what is taking place in these centers when unattended minors and children of parents are detained by immigration authorities. Here’s an excerpt from Joel Pollak’s very good article published at Breitbart:
The children are separated from their parents — or, to be precise, from the adults accompanying them, who may or may not be their parents — when their parents cross the southern U.S. border illegally and are caught and detained.
Previously, under the “catch-and-release” policy, the adults would be released. Under the “zero tolerance” policy of the Trump administration, the adults are being detained and prosecuted. Children cannot be incarcerated with them.
However, families that arrive together at legal ports of entry and apply for asylum status are generally not split up and are permitted to stay in the U.S. pending the adjudication of their applications (which can take several years).
Democrats and the mainstream media have accused the administration of separating the children of “immigrants” from their parents and imprisoning them in “cages.”
On Thursday, CNN analyst and Playboy reporter Brian Karem shouted at White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders: “These people have nothing. They come to the border with nothing and you throw children in cages.” None of the reporters in the briefing room corrected him.
The facility at El Cajon, however, is not a “cage.” It is a comfortable facility providing lodging, meals, clothing, medical care, education, recreation, counseling, and other services.
Selective outrage is the name of the game in order to return our two-party system back to a one-party system where the Swamp can get back to work devouring the people.
