There’s a funny throw-away line in the film Moneyball (2011), based on the book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game (2003). It’s the story of how the Oakland Athletics, with its general manager Billy Beane, put together a game-winning baseball roster after losing three of their best players. One of the scouts refers to Peter Brand (played by Jonah Hill) as “Google boy” because of his fascination with statistics and baseball performance.

Well, the Google boys at the search engine site Google have jumped on the gay rights for everybody bandwagon. The campaign is called “Legalize Love.” I’m a little fearful of reporting this story since Google might decide to shut down Godfather Politics by claiming that this article engages in “hate speech.” (To show that so-called hate crimes have taken an absurd turn, see this article.)  It’s not about hate but morality and common sense. The following was reported on the Christian Post site:

“Google’s Mark Palmer-Edgecumbe, head of the company’s Diversity and Inclusion department for Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, spoke at the Global LGBT Workplace Summit in London, where he rolled out the ‘Legalize Love’ campaign that will run in countries where homosexual activities are illegal or same-sex relationships are not legally recognized. The Fortune 500 company officially launched its gay activism campaign in Singapore and Poland on Saturday [July 7, 2012]. It plans to expand the initiative to more countries that don’t legally recognize same-sex relationships and where it has offices, in the future.”

Let’s get something straight (pun intended). Love isn’t illegal in America. People love their dogs, cats, and horses. They even love their cars and boats. You can’t pass a reasonable law outlawing love.

No one is denying or arguing that people of the same sex can and do love whomever they want. I love my wife, children, grandchildren, mother, and friends. Again, love is not the issue.

I don’t think the Google Boys would support mothers and fathers having sex with their children, even if it were consensual. But if love of all kinds is made legal, and love leads to sex, who’s to say?

Employers like me hold to certain moral standards. If an employee is cheating on his wife, even if he loves both women, I want the freedom to be able to fire the guy. Since I and millions of others believe homosexual behavior is immoral and irrational, we want the freedom not to hire people who engage in immoral and irrational behavior.

The homosexual movement knew they could not sell homosexual sex as sex between people of the same sex, so they adopted the cover word “gay.” Now Google, at the prompting and pressuring of the very vocal, politically connected, and downright nasty pro-homosexual rights movement (e.g., Dan Savage, the homosexual activist “that spews hate against Christians, Republicans, and even other gay people who think differently than he. He’s asserted that ‘monogamy is ridiculous’ and ‘unnatural.’ He’s remarked that the vagina is a ‘hole that sh*ts babies.’”), is doing the same by implying that it’s all about “love.”

Sorry Google Boys, it’s about unnatural and immoral sexual behavior.
