Harry Reid Claims Everybody is Willing to Pay More Taxes

Harry Reid is saying stupid things again. His latest crank statement is that “Everybody” is “willing to pay more” taxes. Well, I’m one of the “everybody,” and I’m not willing to pay more taxes. In what I paid last year in Federal taxes I could have hired two people. I’ve needed a personal assistant for years. I do my own research, writing, editing, travel arrangements, correspondence, filing (when I get around to it), and scheduling.

It’s obvious that the 47 percent of people who don’t pay a dime in Federal taxes aren’t willing to pay more taxes. Where are the protests of people calling for more taxes on themselves?

No one is stopping all these people Harry Reid says are willing to pay more taxes from paying more taxes.

Harry Reid should lead the way. Let’s see him write a big fat tax check to the IRS.

The best way to put the “everybody is willing to pay more taxes” claim to the test is to make paying taxes voluntary.

“The only people who feel there shouldn’t be more coming in to the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress,” Reid told the radio host of the NPR station.

Again, let’s put Reid’s claim to the test. I bet you there are lots of Democrats who don’t want to pay any more in taxes, and they wouldn’t under a voluntary tax provision.

Consider Al Sharpton:

Sharpton drew a $241,732 salary and perks that included first-class or charter air travel, tax filings show. He owes the IRS $2.6 million in income tax, and nearly $900,000 in state tax.

The defunct Rev-Al Communications Inc. owes the state almost $176,000, and Bo-Spanky is $3,500 behind on state-tax liens.

Sharpton had a chance to to prove Reid’s claim. He didn’t.

Here are some high-profile, highly overpaid celebrities who say they want to pay more taxes but don’t: Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Mark Zuckerberg, Jay-Z, Eva Longoria, Stephen King, Chris Rock, Matt Damon. There are others.

I’ll believe them when they start writing checks. I bet that they’re all using accountants to hide as much of their income as they can – legally, of course. Their “I want to pay more taxes” claim is all show. They create more jobs with their acting and movie making than than paying more taxes would ever do. Warren Buffett’s “investments do more good for society than more taxes would.” Our government would just piss away any new revenue. The HealthCare.gov site cost more than $390 million. One report puts the cost at more than $1 billion when it’s all said and done.

Consider what “actor” Russell Brand wants to see implemented:

“A socialist egalitarian system based on the massive redistribution of wealth, heavy taxation of corporations and massive responsibility for energy companies and any companies exploiting the environment. I think the very concept of profit should be hugely reduced.”

Brand’s net worth is $15 million. When do you think he’ll start sharing?

These people are insane. Liberalism really is a mental disorder. I suspect that harry Reid was bullied as a child. Now that he’s got power, it’s payback time with our money.
