George Takei Calls for Boycott of Russian Olympics

I was watching Alec Guinness (1914–2000) (Obi-Wan Kenobi for those who are not familiar with classic movie actors who starred in classic films) and Rosalind Russell in the 1961 film A Majority of One, when George Takei appeared on screen.

George Takei, better known as the original USS Enterprise helmsman Hikaru Sulu on Star Trek, is not credited for his minor role. Star Trek would make him famous . . . unfortunately. Takei and Kirk’s William Shatner have been feuding for years, about what I do not know:

“In 2008 [Shatner] branded George ‘sick’ and ‘psychotic’ and claimed he feels ‘nothing but pity for him,’ as he responded to numerous attacks and snubs.

In an astonishing internet video clip, he also said nobody cared when the gay actor finally came out in 2005.”

Takei has taken on a more major role today. He’s an outspoken activist for homosexual rights. He is petitioning the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to move the 2014 Winter Olympic Games because of Russia’s anti-homosexual policies and laws.

On his blog, Takei wrote the following:

“Given this position, the IOC must do the right thing, protect its athletes and the fans, and move the 2014 Winter Olympics out of Russia . . . Would this be their opinion if the law instead called for the arrest of any Jews, Roman Catholics or Muslims should they display any sign of their religion, such as a wearing a yarmulke or praying while facing Mecca? Discrimination in any form is a blight upon the Winter Games, and it must not be tolerated.”

Hey George, homosexuality is a behavior, not a religion, a racial distinction, or a piece of clothing.

The Olympics are supposed to be apolitical. The 1936 Olympic Games were supposed to be a test case for Nazi superiority. The four gold medals of Jesse Owens changed all of that. To repeat, skin color is not a behavior.

During Jimmy Carter’s administration, the former Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The United States pulled out of the 1980 Moscow Olympics. The only ones hurt were the athletes who had trained for years to compete.

The 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games brought anti-homosexual bullying to the forefront. Now it’s a trend. Cobb County was denied any direct involvement in the Games because of its anti-homosexual policies in denying health benefits to homosexual “couples.” We all yawned when our county was denied Olympic involvement.

Did you know that homosexuals have their own version of the Olympics called the “Gay Games”? Dr. Tom Waddell, a former Olympian who helped found the games, intended them to be called the “Gay Olympics,” but a lawsuit filed before the 1982 inaugural Gay Olympics forced the name change.

I doubt the IOC will move the games out of Russia because of Takei’s protestations Olympic leadership is pro-homosexual, at least in public statements.

Takei went on to say, “This is a situation of good vs. evil. It is evil that is happening there, and we must not play into Putin’s game.”

The Russians have seen what foreign ideologies have done to their once great nation. They don’t want to make another irreversible mistake and follow America down the homosexual road by letting people promote the self-destructive homosexual lifestyle.
