Conservatives Could Be Denied Guns because of ‘Mental Disorder’
Before you go to see your doctor, make sure you have purchased all the guns and ammo you think you’ll need. After some seemingly innocent probing about your lifestyle and beliefs, he or she may consider you to be a danger to yourself, your family, and others (mostly the liberal establishment). A slipshod diagnosis may be enough to take away your Second Amendment and God-given right to “keep and bear arms.”
With Obama’s new Executive Order gun regulations, there are some gun control traps that could have grave consequences. Government regulations are written in vague ways so they can be interpreted in many different ways.
Consider RICO, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act that became law in 1970. This government-enforcement law was designed to go after organized crime. Sounds like a good thing. But once politicians and judicial activists started mining it for open doors, loopholes, and flexible interpretations, RICO became a wax nose that has been used to silence political opponents like the Hells Angels, Major League Baseball, and anti-abortion/pro-life advocates.
There is enough flexibility of interpretation in Obama’s new gun regulations that a person could be denied a weapon based on what some doctor says.
“Under Obama’s new rules, doctors can now report people deemed ‘mentally ill’ to the FBI so they can be denied gun licenses. As the official White House fact sheet on the new gun control regulations states (emphasis added):
“Current law prohibits individuals from buying a gun if, because of a mental health issue, they are either a danger to themselves or others or are unable to manage their own affairs. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has indicated that it will begin the rulemaking process to ensure that appropriate information in its records is reported to NICS.” (H/T: MRCTV)
Who gets to define “mental health”? For a liberal, conservatism by its very nature is a mental health issue. If a person opposes same-sex marriage and abortion, there are liberals who believe that such people are mentally ill.
Am I exaggerating?: “In Creationism as a Mental Illness, Robert Rowland Smith argues that creationists exhibit several signs of mental illness including denial, psychosis, and inability to grasp irony.” The author of the article writes, “Now I’m no clinician, but in my (admittedly biased brown) eyes it seems that prominent Republicans have evidenced each of these ten telltale signs1 of mental illness over the past year.”
Then there’s this from Psychology Today: “Is Political Conservatism a Mild Form of Insanity?” And this: “In 1950, the ‘conservative impulse’ expressed itself in ‘irritable mental gestures,’ in Lionel Trilling’s famous phrase. If Trilling’s liberal successors are to be believed, that impulse has come a long way since then — into a full-blown pathology.”
Let’s not forget the psychosis of climate change denial:
“If, as Pres. Obama has repeatedly claimed, climate change is a greater threat than terrorism, then aren’t people who deny the climate threat ‘a danger to themselves or others’ and unfit to own guns?”
It’s all about science. If a scientist says you’re mentally ill, then you are mentally ill.
So there you have it. There’s enough legal room in Obama’s new regulations for the Feds to take our guns from us because there are “experts” who consider conservativism to be a mental disorder.
