When dealing with racial hypocrisy, always apply the Republican test: What if a Republican had said what Bill Maher and other liberals have said about blacks and Asians (Marion Barry)? Keep this in mind as you read this article.

A Greenville Technical College official twice referred to Katrina evacuees from New Orleans as “yard apes,” and obvious reference to race since they were black The college immediately removed the offending employee who uttered the offensive comment. “She’s not a member of this institution today,” said Greenville Tech President Tom Barton. “Too much damage had been done.” As we might expect, there was outrage — and rightly so. How can someone in the twenty-first century believe such nonsense?

Liberals have denigrated conservative blacks for decades. Condoleezza Rice, Clarence Thomas, and now congressman Allen West, have been attacked in a racial way. Michelle Malkin describes how “editorial” cartoonist Ted Rall depicted Condoleezza Rice as “Bush’s ‘HOUSE NIGGA.’ A black man demands that Rice ‘HAND OVER HER HAIR STRAIGHTENER.’ His t-shirt reads ‘YOU’RE NOT WHITE, STUPID.’ The caption below the frame reads ‘SENT TO INNER-CITY RACIAL RE-EDUCATION CAMP.’”

Sinclere Lee writes that Harry Belafonte called Colin Powell George Bush’s “house n***er.” “In an interview on San Diego radio station KFMB-AM . . . Belafonte compared Powell to a plantation slave who moves into the slave owner’s house and says only things that will please his master.”

On his June 12 blog, Bill Maher described the Republican Party the “Party of the Apes” and ripped the GOP for not repudiating comments made by Rep. Allen West who said that Congress is filled with socialists. Maher then suggested that West should be locked in a padded cell and given “20 CCs of the high test.”

Do you remember how Howard Cosell was treated when he made a “monkey” comment? “During a Monday Night Football telecast on September 5, 1983, Cosell said of Washington Redskins wide receiver Alvin Garrett, ‘That little monkey gets loose, doesn’t he?’ The Rev. Joseph Lowery, then-president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, denounced Cosell’s comment as racist and demanded a public apology, but Cosell refused, citing his past support for black athletes and stating that ‘little monkey’ was an affectionate term he had used in the past for diminutive white athletes (including Mike Adamle, for whom Cosell was on record using the term 11 years prior), as well as for his own grandson.”

You and I wouldn’t make the link between “Party of the Apes” with Allen West who is black, but liberals would if a Republican or well-connected conservative had said it. The conservative would already be packing his bags for a job flipping hamburgers at the Last Stop Diner on a desert road working under the name of John Smith.

Maher ranted further, once again alluding to apes and the GOP:

“[T]he idea that the blame for our government’s dysfunction is equally shared by the parties just is a giant, steaming mound of horsesh*t and anyone who has paid attention to politics over the last 20 years knows it. Or as I like to call it, ‘The Rise of the Party of the Apes.’”

Keep in mind that it’s the Republicans who elected “people of color” in 2008 and 2010: Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Florida Congressman Allen West, and South Carolina Congressman Tim Scott.

Contrary to Maher, both parties are to blame with the Democrats coming in for most of it. The Republicans are to blame because they lack a fiscal and moral spine to make the constitutional cuts to unconstitutional programs. That’s why we need a political sea change in Washington and across America.
