Are Islamic Polygamous Marriages Next?
As the euphoria over homosexual marriages spread through the “gaymunity,” critics of the biologically insane relationship are predicting that polygamy will be up next on the marriage docket. Supporters of homosexual marriage blabbered on how President Obama’s decision to come out in favor of homosexual marriage put him “on the right side of history.” Here’s what Shepherd Smith of Fox news said about Obama’s “historical” announcement:
“Republicans on the wrong side of history — our country has finally hit the 21st century.”
I’m not sure what side of history Smith is talking about since there is no history of homosexual marriage in any century. In reality, support for homosexual marriage puts a person on the wrong side of history, reason, biology, and morality.
There is, however, a long history of multiple marriage — polygamy. When presidential candidate Rick Santorum compared homosexual marriage to polygamy, he was jeered. But what argument can be used against polygamy if “love” and “consent” are the operating standards for marriage in the 21st century? As the Cole Porter song says, “Anything Goes.”
While most Americans will most likely not pursue polygamy, Muslims will. Consider the following by David J. Rusin:
Islam sanctions polygamy — more specifically, polygyny — allowing Muslim men to keep up to four wives at once. Though marrying a second woman while remaining married to the first is prohibited across the Western world, including all 50 U.S. states, a Muslim can circumvent the law by wedding one woman in a government-recognized marriage and joining with others in unlicensed religious unions devoid of legal standing.
As Muslims have grown more numerous in the West, so too have Muslim polygamists. France, home to the largest Islamic population in Western Europe, was estimated in 2006 to host 16,000 to 20,000 polygamous families — almost all Muslim — containing 180,000 total people, including children. In the United States, such Muslims may have already reached numerical parity with their fundamentalist-Mormon counterparts; as many as 100,000 Muslims reside in multi-wife families, and the phenomenon has gained particular traction among black Muslims.
Most Muslim women do not work. How will these polygamist families with multiple children be supported? How will the children be educated? Concentrations of Muslims in specific geographical areas will overwhelm the educational and welfare infrastructure of cities. In time, Islam will dominate, drive out competing ideologies, and change the political landscape.
