Another Fake Hate-Crime Story to Smear Conservatives

One way to gain attention for your cause is to claim that you are a victim.  Modern-day politics is all about victimhood. This group or that group is a victim of the majority. In order to protect the victimized class, new laws are written to turn any word or action into a crime.

Hate crime legislation is the result. If you are murdered but are not part of a protected class, your murderer will not be punished as severely as someone who is murdered and is part of a protected class.

In the past few years, fake hate crimes have been uncovered. You might remember the census worker in Kentucky who was found hanging from a tree. Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center was Johnny-on-the-spot with his “expert” analysis. He blamed the incident on “anti-government sentiment very much whipped up by militia” types. Here’s the problem. The man wasn’t murdered by anti-government marauders. “Bill Sparkman, the late Census worker, had killed himself, and staged the homicide in the hope of recouping insurance money for his family. Tragic, yes. Right-wing terrorism? Only in Potok fantasy-land.”1

The latest hate-crime smear comes from two lesbians. The lesbian couple claimed their neighbors spray painted “Kill the Gay” on their condo and left a hangman’s noose on their doormat. As is usual in cases like this, the publicity hounds came out. The incident drew lots of media attention, with pro-homosexual support groups denouncing the “hate crime” as evidence that they are a persecuted minority. Even the local chapter of the Anti-Defamation league came to their defense.

After some investigation, the police determined that the women did the deed themselves.

There is a history of fake hate crimes by the homosexual community. Here are some of the headlines:

  • Attackers carved slur on young lesbian
  • Gay student faked hate e-mail campaign
  • Another Hoax College ‘Hate Crime’ Charge in North Carolina

The National Review reports of a disturbing trend on college campuses, “not of hate crimes, but of students and faculty creating make-believe racist and anti-gay incidents to illustrate, as the phrase goes, ‘that hate could happen here,’ and of students, faculty, and administrators using the fictional crimes as ‘evidence’ of the urgency of their multicultural agenda.”

A great deal of time and money are spent investigating these hoaxed hate crimes. How should the perpetrators be punished? Here’s an interesting law from the Bible:

“If a malicious witness rises up against a man to accuse him of wrongdoing, then both the men who have the dispute shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who will be in office in those days. The judges shall investigate thoroughly, and if the witness is a false witness and he has accused his brother falsely, then you shall do to him just as he had intended to do to his brother. Thus you shall purge the evil from among you. The rest will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such an evil thing among you” (Deut. 19:16–20).

Make the hoaxes pay for the investigation costs. Double restitution would be in order. Also, tack on the “hate crime” kicker that would have been imposed if there had been a real perpetrator.
