I’m watching Wreck it Ralph (2012) as I’m writing this. Ralph wrecks things. Felix fixes what Ralph wrecks. Ralph doesn’t like his bad guy image, so he “goes turbo” to get a medal to join Felix who gets a medal all the time.

“Going turbo” is a bad thing in the arcade world. If a character leaves his game and dies in another game, it can’t regenerate.

King Candy, formerly a character called “Turbo,” is the result of a one-time good guy character turning bad. His signature phrase is, “Have some candy.” And that’s what the CROmnibus is all about.

A number of so-called conservatives have “gone turbo” by voting for the bloated Continuing Resolution Omnibus (CROmnibus) $1.1 billion boondoggle, Porkulus bill.

Sarah Palin expressed our outrage when she said in a recent interview, “Did arrogant politicians not get the memo that Obama’s agenda was decisively defeated in last month’s historic midterm landslide? Good Lord, America said loud and clear not just ‘no’ but ‘hell no’ to Obama’s failed policies. Americans who pay attention said absolutely no to Obama’s amnesty for illegal aliens.”

Rush Limbaugh made the point that the GOP Establishment, in bed with corporate America, wants to eliminate the Tea Party before the newly elected Congress has a chance to vote on anything.

It would have been a simple thing to delay any bill or vote until the new congress was sworn in. The Republicans could have said, “The voters have spoken. We owe it to them to grant them their choices. All budgets and policies will be voted on when the new Congress enters office in January. This includes congressional and Senate leadership.”

I believe the American people would have supported such a plan.

What’s most disappointing is how many so-called conservatives voted for CROmnibus. One of them is Northeast Georgia’s Congressman Doug Collins, the supposed “complete conservative.” The following is found on his website:

“In its annual rating of Congress released today, National Journal identified Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) as the most conservative member of Georgia’s Congressional Delegation and the sixteenth most conservative Member of the House of Representatives overall.

“On studying the rankings, Congressman Collins said, ‘I tell people all the time that Northeast Georgia is where you’ll find the “complete conservative”—those highly informed citizens who carefully consider both social and economic factors when they make their decisions. As the elected representative of Northeast Georgians, this ranking came as no surprise to me.’

“Collins continued, ‘My district wants to see conservatism that works. They want to see their values expressed in an effective way. That’s what I’ve set out to do for them, and I’m glad one of the most fair and respected publications in Washington recognized that.’”

Collins said, “My district wants to see conservatism that works. They want to see their values expressed in an effective way.”

So what happened? Why did “the most conservative member of Georgia’s Congressional Delegation and the sixteenth most conservative Member of the House of Representatives overall” vote for this monstrosity when 67 of his fellow Republicans voted against it by going politically turbo?

He’s not the only supposed conservative Georgia Congressman to vote for it. Phil Gingrey who represents my district voted for it as well.

Our best hope is the new congress, but if Rep. Collins is an indication of things to come, some of these guys and gals might also “go turbo” on us.
