Angelica Houston is an actress. If she does anything more than this, I don’t know about it. It seems, however, that when entertainers speak, the liberal world listens. During an interview with Rosie O’Donnell, who was filling in for Piers Morgan, Houston said the following about the contraception debate and the idea of being pro-life:

“And how did guys, get to be the ones to solely discuss it? It’s absolutely astonishing to me; it’s the Dark Ages.”

First, Rosie O’Donnell just had her show canceled. She does not speak for American women. Second, men aren’t the only ones who are opposed to killing pre-born babies. Pro-life candidates could not get elected with just the votes of men. Third, it’s hardly the Dark Ages to want to protect pre-born babies. Modern technology shows what’s going on inside the womb. It’s this modern technology that has the pro-abortion movement on edge. Fourth, abortion and infanticide were commonly practiced by the ancients. Laws protecting the unborn were evidence that civilization was leaving the Dark Ages.

It’s hard to believe that opposing killing preborn babies is viewed as “prehistoric,” as Lisa Miller, the religion columnist for the Washington Post tries to argue. A more modern view has us protecting snail darters, baby seals, and algae-filled, mosquito-infested swamps instead. Welcome to the 21^st century.

Of course, in order to make their arguments stick, liberals have had to distort what pro-life Republicans are really saying. As far as I can tell, no one is arguing that women should not have access to contraceptives. The issue is who will pay for them.

Liberals are out of touch with what the majority of Americans believe. They don’t have any friends who are conservative, and they don’t know anyone in their circle who has ever voted for a conservative. Lisa Miller’s anti-religious rant in her latest “On Faith Column” is prime evidence that insanity has paralyzed the brain’s synapses of liberals:

It’s impossible for some of us to understand why and how former senator Rick Santorum, who has zero qualifications to be president of the United States and whose positions on family and social issues are prehistoric, continues to survive and even thrive this Republican primary season. His victories in Alabama and Mississippi this week only further our astonishment.

When Barack Obama ran for President, he had served in the Illinois State Senate and two years as a United States Senator. Rick Santorum was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1990 and served as a United States Senator representing Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2007.

Santorum did not lose his Senate seat because of his religious or pro-life views. He lost because he supported Arlen Specter who held beliefs contrary to the people who put Santorum in office.
