Obama’s IRS Bullied Conservatives So Wiretapping Trump Should Not Surprise Us
It’s shocking that the leadership at the IRS was not taken away in handcuffs. They committed political crimes against American citizens who had opinions contrary to those of the political party in power.
We expect this type of abuse of power to be used in the former Soviet Union and the Eastern-bloc nations. Surveillance was the name of the game.
Thanks to filings in a federal lawsuit in Ohio, there is a list with 426 names on it that is “top-heavy with conservative groups”:
- 62 had Tea Party or Tea Party Patriots in the name
- an additional 14 had Patriots in the name
- 30 groups had 9/12 or Liberty in the name (9/12 refers to groups inspired by conservative television personality Glenn Beck)
In all, 282 conservative groups were on the IRS list, about two-thirds of the total number of groups that got additional scrutiny. (NPR)
It doesn’t matter if the Left or the Right is using a government agency to target its opposition. Let me say that this is just one more reason to get rid of the IRS and go with a consumption tax (you only pay tax when you spend money) or what is called a “Fair Tax.” (My only problem with the Fair Tax is that it does not affect the growth of government.)
What happened to those employed by the IRS who more than likely targeted these and other groups? Almost nothing. The Republicans rolled over like they always seem to do. In this case, there’s a good possibility that they were relieved that these groups were attacked since it put their political positions in jeopardy. The Democrats weren’t going to complain for the same reason.
Todd Starnes has brought to light that the Billy Graham Association was targeted with an audit by the Obama Administration. He writes:
The Obama Administration engaged in eight years of political payback and heavy-handed bullying that specifically targeted their “political enemies.”
They used the Internal Revenue Service to wage an ugly campaign of bullying and intimidation to silence Tea Party groups and Christian ministries.
In 2013 President Obama’s minions sent IRS agents to bully the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association [BGEA].
“I believe that someone in the administration was targeting and attempting to intimidate us,” Franklin Graham wrote in a letter to the White House. “This is morally wrong and unethical — indeed some would call it ‘un-American.'”
The BGEA’s only crime against Obama was to urge voters to back candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles. They also supported an effort to support traditional marriage in the state of North Carolina.
I believe the government used the power of the IRS to silence dissent and punish those who refused to comply.
They targeted Billy Graham, America’s pastor. Just let that sink in, folks.
So if the Obama Administration went after Billy Graham, it’s not out of the realm of possibility they wiretapped Donald Trump.
The Mainstream Media believes such a charge is absurd, but is it really?
My Fox News colleague James Rosen was secretly designated by the administration as a criminal co-conspirator. A federal judge gave the government permission to rifle through his private emails.”
