MLK III: Skin Color a License to Murder

Martin Luther King III said the following at the 50th anniversary of his father’s “I Have a Dream” Speech:

“However, sadly, the tears of Trayvon Martin’s mother and father remind us that, far too frequently, the color of one’s skin remains a license to profile, to arrest and to even murder with no regard for the content of one’s character,” he said, calling for “stand your ground” self-defense laws to be repealed in states where they have been enacted.

Every day in America people are murdered, and skin color has nothing to do with it. The victims in Newtown were mostly white. One of 26 was black. Those murdered by Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were mostly white. One of 13 was black.

The Beltway sniper and his accomplice were black. I don’t know the racial identity of the 10 murder victims. The sniper was initially profiled as an “angry white male.” The same is true for the “FBI profile of the Baton Rouge serial killer.” He was black.

In the majority of murder cases, blacks are not being targeted by whites. Young blacks are more in danger from other young blacks than they are from whites. But King and his racialist surrogates can’t say this because it will change the victimhood narrative that they have used for so long to increase the size and power of the State that has led to the true victimization of blacks.

A high percentage of murders are family or friend related and don’t have anything to do with race.

When it comes to the murder of blacks in terms of numbers and percentages, skin color is an issue. Blacks most often kill other blacks in far greater numbers than whites kill blacks. Whites most often kill other whites.

“The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) notes that most crime is intra-racial. Statistics show that 84% of White victims are killed by Whites and 93% of Black victims are killed by Blacks (BJS, 2011).”

But here’s the difference. Blacks account for 49% of all homicide victims in the US — again, almost exclusively at the hands of other blacks.

“To put these number in perspective, recall that over 6,400 U.S. service men and women have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined over the course of a decade-long war fought in those nations. During the Vietnam War, which lasted nearly 13 years, some 58,000 Americans were killed — nearly 13 percent of whom were African American.

“Extrapolating black-on-black crime data reveals that, by comparison, approximately 100,000 African Americans have been killed on our own streets at the hands of other African Americans in roughly the same stretches of time. It is difficult to find anyone who would white-wash these mind-numbing statistics.

Equally as startling, the same study reveals African Americans were victims of an estimated 805,000 nonfatal violent crimes in just one year alone.

“What’s more, blacks comprise roughly 12.5 percent of the U.S. population.”

So why does MLK III, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, John Lewis, Julian Bond, and others continue to point to the killing of Trayvon Martin by a “white Hispanic” as the latest black cause? The 50th anniversary of King’s “I Have a Dream Speech” is a perfect opportunity to ask the question. The answer is simple: The dream has been squandered, taken over by political interests who are using race to hold America hostage.

There has been a lot of racial progress in the United States – from Jackie Robinson breaking color barrier in baseball to the election of a black president and so much more in between – but the built-up racial good-will equity has been lost because blacks were sold a political bill of goods believing that government would solve all their problems and racial and economic inequality would be abolished. Instead, the black family is in disarray, the black high school graduation rate is around 50 percent, “72.3 percent of non-Hispanic blacks are now born out-of-wedlock,” and black-on-black crime is a national epidemic.

Juan Williams said it well: “‘Dr. King Would Cry’ for State of Black Families.”
