Democrats that Survived Sexual Harassment Charges
The media are reporting that Herman Cain was involved in sexually harassing two employees while running the National Restaurant Association. Actually, he was accused of sexual harassment. Accusations of this type happen all the time. What constitutes sexual harassment is in the eye of the beholder. I heard radio talker Neal Bortz tell how he had been accused of sexual harassment when he dressed up as radio shock-jock Howard Stern one Halloween.
We live in a time when hate crimes, sexual harassment, and being “offended” can lead to legal action. Those bringing the charges are hoping for a payout. It’s a gamble. They figure that a company would rather pay a smaller amount of money to the person making the charge than paying high-priced lawyers to litigate. The adverse publicity is another factor that companies consider in these payouts.
If Cain had harassed these unnamed women sometime in the 1990s, then there should be a history of this type behavior before and after these incidents. Let’s understand what this is all about. Because the Left can’t argue based on facts, personal attacks become the only weapon they have left. The media are willing accomplices. They will do anything to prop up their Leftist candidates.
We know there is a double standard in the media. It took the National Inquirer to break the John Edwards story. Howie Carr, writing for the Boston Herald, understands what this is all about:
The mainstream media knew it was all true. But they wouldn’t say boo. Edwards was one of the Beautiful People. He’s a Democrat, and his upcoming trial on corruption charges changes nothing. Can the moonbats possibly despise Herman Cain any more than they already do? On Friday, a former DNC spokesman said Republicans love Cain because “he’s a black man who knows his place.”
She said this on MSNBC, which employs one Al Sharpton. This man of God made his bones touting Tawana Brawley, who falsely accused a group of white men of raping her. There’ve been a lot of these sorts of allegations — Clarence Thomas 20 years ago, more recently the Duke lacrosse team. And now we have another high-tech lynching, as Thomas put it. And Cain knew it was coming.
Funny, isn’t it? Cain is accused of “gestures that were not overtly sexual” and he’s the lead story on every left-wing newscast (or do I repeat myself)? Ted Kennedy killed a woman, and if you ever deigned to bring it up, you were dismissed as a “hater.”
The media knew the John and Robert Kennedy were involved in numerous illicit affairs and said nothing about them. The “Chappaquiddick Incident,” where Mary Jo Kopechne suffocated in the back seat of Ted Kennedy’s car after it crashed into a pond with Kennedy as the driver, would have destroyed anybody else’s political career, but because he was a Kennedy and a Democrat he was elevated to the status of elder statesman in the Senate. If you are not familiar with the story, it makes for some interesting reading. You will wonder how any politician could have survived such a series of events. Consider this from John Farrar, the diver who retrieved Kopechne’s body:
It looked as if she were holding herself up to get a last breath of air. It was a consciously assumed position. … She didn’t drown. She died of suffocation in her own air void. It took her at least three or four hours to die. I could have had her out of that car twenty-five minutes after I got the call. But he [Ted Kennedy] didn’t call.
Kennedy waited until the next morning to notify officials. By then the effects of the alcohol would have worn off. With his handlers at his side, the extra time gave them a chance to put a story together. It didn’t hurt that the Kennedy’s had friends in high places. Here’s part of Farrar’s testimony that he gave at the inquest:
Had I received a call within five to ten minutes of the accident occurring, and was able, as I was the following morning, to be at the victim’s side within twenty-five minutes of receiving the call, in such event there is a strong possibility that she would have been alive on removal from the submerged car.
Talk about sexual harassment. Kennedy was a Liberal sexual harasser. He was their sexual harasser. As long as he continued to carry water for the Democrats and their Leftist causes, it didn’t matter that he killed the only child of Joseph and Gwen Kopechne. There’s always going to be collateral damage when you’re a liberal.
We mustn’t forget the numerous sexual harassment charges leveled against Bill Clinton. The most serious was a rape charge. Juanita Broaddrick told her story to a national television audience that former President Clinton sexually assaulted her. Like the Cain incident, the charge was made some years after the fact. It came down to “he said/she said.” This is what we are getting from the two unnamed women who brought the sexual harassment charges against Cain.
The media are using this story to sabotage Cain’s campaign. Here’s what Lanny J. Davis, former White House special counsel, said about Broaddrick’s claims:
“Is journalism about reporting facts or not? Where have we gone when an unsubstantiated allegation becomes a fact if others report it? It is not corroborated because her girlfriend saw her with a swollen lip. That doesn’t make the charge of rape a fact. . . . How do we know she didn’t lie to all her friends?”
The same could be said about the Herman Cain allegations. In the end, it does not matter. Cain is a conservative Black man who makes the liberal plantation look like the “Truman Show.” Every tactic known to liberals will be used to keep Blacks from realizing that there’s a world outside the bubble.
