Is ‘Captain America’ Out-of-Touch With American Voters?

It seems that everyone in Hollywood is liberal. Those who don’t say anything one way or the other may be conservative. Big name stars like Clint Eastwood and Jon Voight get a pass because their films make money. There are others who make noise about their (fake?) liberal political views for fear of losing acting gigs. I can’t prove that this is the case, but I bet it takes place.

This came to mind after reading about Chris Evans who plays Captain America (the first ‘Super American’) in the Marvel films. He was a big Hillary Clinton supporter. He has since come out pontificating about his aversion to Donald Trump:

“It’s unbelievable. People were just so desperate to hear someone say that someone is to blame. They were just so happy to hear that someone was angry. Hear someone say that Washington sucks. They just want something new without actually understanding. I mean, guys like Steve Bannon — Steve Bannon! — this man has no place in politics.” (Esquire)

Just another multi-millionaire – he’s worth $40 million – who doesn’t get it. Of course, Washington sucks. Anyone who does not know this is ignorant. On the basis of the Constitution alone Washington sucks because almost everything that comes out of Washington today is unconstitutional. That goes for both political parties and an Independent like Bernie Sanders. The fact that anyone has to pay $38 million in taxes should know that Washington sucks and should get on the Trump train to stop the egregious theft of property by government edict.

Evans is a political parrot who lives in a gilded cage of abundance who has almost no first-hand knowledge of what’s going on in the real world. The Esquire interview he gave begins with him skydiving, what every hard-working American can afford to do. He lives in the lap of luxury. I’m not condemning or complaining; I’m just pointing out that he’s out of touch.

First Called “Super American”

It’s just that the Democrats are bigger thieves than the Republicans. Those who voted for Trump understood very well what they were doing. The festering boil of liberalism displayed itself post-election with violent demonstrations, flammable rhetoric, hate speech (if a Republican said it), irrational exuberance for failed leftist policies, obstructionism, and calls for impeachment a week after Trump was elected.

These people would have been the operating populace base running America under the presidency of Hillary Clinton and everything she would have brought to the national corridors of power. Just thinking about what might have been gives me the shivers.

Hollywood elites like Evans are rarely impacted by Washington’s political foibles. They can escape at a moment’s notice to their gated communities, quick jaunts out of the country to a chosen private island, or a second home tucked away in some distant rich person’s private enclave. Even if Evans is taxed at 50 percent on his next few films, he still has $40 million in the bank and more millions coming his way. Unless the USA becomes Cuba, Venezuela, or North Korea, he’s going to do OK.

Because of his leftist views, Evans will have a successful career in Hollywood.
