Nick Symmonds is an American middle distance runner who won a silver medal at the World Track and Field Championships that are being held in Moscow. While not a homosexual himself, he believes in the moral normalization of homosexuality:

“As much as I can speak out about it, I believe that all humans deserve equality as however God made them,” he told R-Sport after running a 1:43.55 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. “Whether you’re gay, straight, black, white, we all deserve the same rights.”

“However God made them”? How many times have we heard people justify an action by claiming, “Well, that’s the way God made me”? Take that before a judge and see how far it gets you.

Fill in the black: “_________________ because God made me this way.”

Being black or white is not a behavior. Sexual acts are, and there are lots of them that can’t be justified under the rubric of “that’s the way God made me.” Are we to sanction any and all sexual acts of heterosexuals by arguing that whatever a person does is God-made?

Don’t you just love it when God is brought into the picture when it’s manifestly evident that God disapproves of same-sex sex? All it takes is a little bit of biological knowledge to understand that God did not make us to engage in same-sex sex. The sexual equipment doesn’t fit.

Robert Griffin III , the Washington Redskins quarterback said the following to GQ magazine:

“I think there are [gay players] right now, and if they’re looking for a window to just come out, I mean, now is the window. . . .My view on it is, yes, I am a Christian, but to each his own. You do what you want to do. If some Christians want to look at being gay as a sin, then thinking about other women, committing adultery — or any of those other sins that are in the Bible — those are sins, too. And God looks at all of us the same way.”

Hey Reggie, it’s not that “some Christians” “look at being gay [sic] as a sin.” If you’re a Christian, the Bible makes it clear that same-sex sex is a sin as is committing adultery. So, Reggie, are you saying that adultery and other sexual sins are no longer sins since homosexuality should not be judged as a sin? Of course, both are sins.

If “God looks at all of us the same way,” then “to each his own” is not a biblical prescription for morality. Once you go down the “to each his own” path, there’s no stopping point.

Pole vault great Yelena Isinbayeva had better sense. Isinbayeva has set 28 world records in her career and won seven major titles, including gold medals at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.

She condemned the open display of homosexuality. “If we allow to promote and do all this stuff on the street, we are very afraid about our nation. . .”
