Are Liberals Really Against Rape and Sexual Assault?
It’s fascinating what liberals will justify in the name of their pet political policies. If an accused rapist votes the way they want him to vote, they will keep him in office.
The following is from the January 5, 2016 episode of “The View”:
JOY BEHAR: Hillary is in a quandary in my opinion, because she’s talking about violence against women and sexual harassment and all that stuff and her husband has a checkered past, to put it mildly, so she is in a bind.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: He’s not perpetrated violence against women.
BEHAR: There are accusations.
GOLDBERG: That’s right. Accusations.
PAULA FARIS: There are accusations but there are three women that claim that he did things to them that they didn’t want. One of them is Paula Jones.
BEHAR: Remember her?
FARIS: Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey. They say that he either exposed himself to them, raped them or groped them. These are three accusations.
RAVEN-SYMONE: This has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton. It has nothing to do with that.
GOLDBERG: No, it doesn’t.
FARIS: He has denied all of those.
BEHAR: It puts her in a bind. On the other hand, it’s her policies that really matter. Like, Republicans have voted against the Violence Against Women Act. Now, that to me, is more important than anything that Bill Clinton did or didn’t do because it’s what she’s going to vote for, how she’s going to lead the country that matters more than that. On the other hand, he is a dog. Let’s face it.
…
BEHAR: People have to understand, it’s policy. Teddy Kennedy. Remember Chappaquiddick? Am I the oldest person in the room? Chappaquiddick. I mean, a girl drowns and he abandons her and she drowned and women still voted for Teddy Kennedy. Why? Because he voted for women’s rights. That’s why. That’s the bottom line of it in my opinion. I mean, I don’t like either one of them, to tell you the truth, Teddy or Bill. They’re both dogs as far as I’m concerned. But I still will vote for Bill Clinton because he votes in my favor.
Earlier in the discussion, co-host Whoopi Goldberg insisted of Bill Clinton: “He’s not perpetrated violence against women.” This comment shouldn’t be too surprising as Goldberg in 2009 said of child rapist Roman Polanski: “It wasn’t rape-rape.”
“Whoopi floats the notion that rape ‘wasn’t the allegation,’ and that the victim ‘was aware,’ and Melissa Gilbert thinks it makes a difference that ‘Mom was in the building.’ [Rape victim] Samantha Geimer testified that she told Polanski ‘No!’ While Polanski denies this, he loses a couple of credibility points by drugging and sodomizing a 13-year-old girl. I’d say she gets the benefit of the doubt here.” (Media-ite)
As it turns out, it was people on the left — the very people who would complain about “rape culture” today — who abolished capital punishment for rapists of adult women in 1977, and for rapists of children in 2008.
So in other words, it was the toughest defenders of “the patriarchy” who wanted to keep rape a capital crime, and it was the left who wanted to soften the punishment.
Go make sense of that.
Hypocrisy is too good of a word to apply to the women of the view and the Democrat Party. It goes far beyond hypocrisy. This is what it’s like to sell your soul for a mess of pottage.
The Democrat Party is evil. It must be crushed at the ballot box so that it goes the way of the Whig Party. This is what we want to hear from the Democrats:
“We are slain,” cried Lewis D. Campbell, a Whig representative from Ohio. “The party is dead, dead, dead!” (NYT)
